About The Resilient Manager.
The Resilient Manager helps people build resilience in a practical, structured, and usable way.
Resilience is often talked about at work, but rarely taught in a way that people can actually apply.
Managers are expected to lead through pressure. Teams are expected to adapt to change. Trainers and HR professionals are expected to deliver meaningful wellbeing programmes — often without the time, structure, or resources to build them from scratch.
That is why The Resilient Manager exists.
We create ready-to-use resilience training toolkits for trainers, HR and L&D teams, managers, coaches, consultants, and individuals who want practical tools they can use immediately.
Meet Catherine Fitzgerald.
I’m Catherine Fitzgerald, founder of The Resilient Manager.
My work brings together health promotion, workplace wellbeing, course development, research, training design, and trauma-informed learning.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Studies and a Master’s Degree in Health Promotion from University College Cork. I also have qualifications in Training and Development from the National University of Ireland, Galway, and a Diploma in Trauma Studies from University College Cork.
I research corporate wellness in the workplace and trauma, and I use that knowledge to create practical resources that support real people in real working environments.
Why I Created The Resilient Manager.
This work is personal.
A few years ago, my life changed suddenly when my husband became seriously ill and needed open-heart surgery. He later became a candidate for a heart transplant and was no longer able to work.
Almost overnight, I became a full-time carer while also stepping into the leadership of Oak Innovation — a business I had never expected to run.
I had to learn how to keep going while managing pressure, uncertainty, responsibility, and fear.
Later, after experiencing a public and unexpected personal attack, I began asking deeper questions about stress, trauma, recovery, wellbeing, and resilience.
I wanted to understand why people are often expected to “move on” or “be resilient” without ever being shown how.
That experience shaped the work I do today.
I built what I wished had existed: practical, structured resilience resources that help people navigate pressure without having to figure everything out alone.
The Problem We Saw.
Again and again, we saw the same challenges:
- Managers expected to lead through pressure without enough support.
- Teams told to adapt, but not given practical tools.
- Trainers spending 20–30 hours building programmes from scratch.
- HR and L&D teams needing structured, repeatable wellbeing resources.
- Individuals trying to build resilience alone, often after stress or burnout had already taken hold.
The problem is not that people do not care.
The problem is that most people are given ideas, but not a complete system.
What We Do.
The Resilient Manager creates complete, practical resilience training resources that are ready to use and easy to customise.
Our toolkits are designed to help:
- Trainers deliver professional resilience workshops without starting from scratch.
- HR and L&D teams implement structured workplace wellbeing programmes.
- Managers support their teams with practical resilience tools.
- Coaches and consultants deliver high-quality learning experiences for clients.
- Individuals build resilience skills they can apply in everyday work and life.
What Makes Us Different.
Many resilience resources explain what resilience is.
We focus on how to build it.
Our training materials are designed for real-world use, not just theory. Each toolkit gives you a complete structure so you can deliver meaningful learning with confidence.
Depending on the toolkit, resources may include:
- Instructor guides.
- Participant workbooks.
- Slide decks.
- Exercises and activities.
- Case studies and discussion prompts.
- Fully editable materials.
Instead of starting with a blank page, you start with a complete training system that you can adapt to your audience.
Our Mission.
Our mission is to make resilience training practical, accessible, evidence-informed, and immediately usable.
We believe resilience should not be reduced to a buzzword or a motivational phrase.
It should be taught as a skill.
When people learn how to build resilience, workplaces benefit too.
- Managers lead with greater confidence.
- Teams communicate and adapt more effectively.
- People are better equipped to manage pressure.
- Burnout can be addressed more proactively.
- Organisations become healthier and more sustainable.
